Before any of the European explorers we are taught about arrived in modern day Delaware, the land was inhabited by the Lenape people. The Lenape are a Native American tribe that lived in wigwams, spoke the Algonquian language, and survived off of farming and hunting. They were displaced by European settlers after their peace treaty with William Penn ceased when the settlers used more land than they said they would. The Lenape and now live in Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and Ontario.
